Prizes were given at Woonona for the best costume, tableau, display and decorated motor car. The Trolley, Draymen and Carters’ Union float was declared Championship of the Procession. On offer at a fundraising auction was a china cup and saucer from which the Duke of Wellington reportedly drank before the battle of Waterloo. The day ended with a ‘plain and fancy dress’ ball at a nearby hall, attended by over 80 couples.

Peace Day parades were held throughout Australia on that day, as a tribute to the heroes of war. By this time, most service personnel had returned to Australia from overseas and were able to participate. Large crowds flocked to the parades, which also provided fundraising opportunities to build homes for war widows.
